Lydia Ko’s golf ball gets stuck in a tree: video

An odd incident at the LPGA’s North Texas Shootout saw Lydia Ko card a triple-bogey after her ball got stuck in a tree.

The craziness started when Lydia Ko was playing at the 14th hole at the Las Colinas Country Club. Sitting 2-under the card her wedge approach shot to the green got stuck in a tree.

Under these circumstances you must identify your golf ball if you are to take an unplayable lie so her caddy climbed the tree to do so. Ko seemed unfamiliar with the exact rule and while the ball was not able to be dislodged, rules officials deemed that enough spectators saw it sit in the tree that an unplayable could be taken.

Ko is in danger of missing her first ever cut in 50 LPGA events. Let’s hope she does as she has vowed to donate all her earnings to the Nepal Earthquake relief.
