The 2017 Waste Management Phoenix Open got underway this morning Рa tournament most notable for the stadium par-3 16th hole.

Each year tournament organisers erect a series of huge grandstands around the par-3 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona. And when golf fans arrives create an electrifying, and sometimes raucous atmosphere. The PGA Tour published a great time-lapse video of the grandstands being constructed prior to the tournament.

Dubbed the loudest hole in golf, the stands provide seats for up to 20,000 people and it’s produced some memorable moments. Keep an eye out for Jarrod Lyle’s hole-in-one:

I would be shaking in my boots having to hit a shot in front of that crowd. Just watching some of the best players in the world looking nervous makes me nervous. What a great idea to give that amphitheater feel of what it would be like to go out in front of 10,000 screaming fans, love it
