In the lead up to the PGA Tour Zurich Classic in New Orleans this week, several of the players took part in a charity event which wound the clock back to the way golf was played 100 years ago.
Earlier this week we showed images of Geoff Ogilvy playing hickory golf, but it was the likes of Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler and Graeme McDowell who tried their hand at vintage golf in New Orleans. All golfers swapped their regular attire for vintage clothing and their modern clubs for hickory sticks that were played in 1912. Stymies, niblicks and spoons were all part of the rules and equipment which found some of the professionals a little confused.
For the most part though, modern professionals are good enough to deal with any changes. Justin Rose double-bogied his opening hole but nailed a 100-yard shot on the second for eagle. For the record, the team of Ben Crane and Camilo Villegas won the three hole event.
